Karen Green
Karen Green has been Columbia’s librarian for Ancient & Medieval History since 2002. A lifelong comics fan, she initiated Butler Library’s graphic novels collection in 2005, and began acquiring comics creator archives in 2011. She wrote a monthly column, “Comic Adventures in Academia,” for the ComiXology website from 2007 to 2012, has planned numerous events and panels, including 2012’s two-day Comic New York symposium and the Fall 2014 exhibition “Comics at Columbia: Past,Present, Future,” is a producer of the documentary “She Makes Comics,” and has spoken about using comics in an academic milieu at universities around the country.
She served as a judge for the Will Eisner Comics Industry Awards in 2011 and for the Pulitzer Prize in Editorial Cartooning in 2015, and currently is vice-president of the board of directors of the Society of Illustrators.
